Steven McHenry named Vice President to the Board of Directors of 3S Artspace in Portsmouth, NH.
3S ARTSPACE, a 501c3 nonprofit, is an alternative multidisciplinary arts organization comprised of three spaces - a performance space, art gallery and restaurant - that presents and supports contemporary artists and their work in order to stimulate the artistic community and creatively engage and educate the community at large. 18 Congress Building is recognized with the 2009 Portsmouth Advocates Award
The Portsmouth Advocates Recognition Award of Excellence was presented to McHenry Architecture for Commercial Infill at 18 Congress Street. The Portsmouth Advocates are dedicated to the preservation of our city's unique historic character as an essential part of making Portsmouth a better place to live and work.

New Smuttynose Brewery Targets LEED Gold Certification in Hampton, NH
McHenry Architecture has been commissioned to design the first phase of a new brewery complex for Smuttynose Brewery that will include all the facilities for brewing, bottling, warehousing and shipping of the growing brewing company. In addition, a full service restaurant, pub, and a retail shop will be integrated into the design. A fundamental aspect of the project is that the architecture, brewing process and landscape design will be integrated throughout to be consistent with the principles of sustainable design with a targeted goal of LEED Gold Certification.

The project is to be built in Hampton, New Hampshire on 14 acres along Towle Farm Road. We have recently gained site plan approval and intend to break ground in 2010.

18 Congress Building Achieves 2007 AIA New Hampshire Award
McHenry Architecture has been honored with the People’s Choice Award for Excellence in Architecture at the AIA New Hampshire Annual Meeting in January. The award was in the Commercial Project category in recognition of the 18 Congress Building project, located in Market Square in Portsmouth. The People’s Choice Award is based upon voting by the public and the professional design community that takes place during the display of all 2007 AIA Award entries shown prior to its annual meeting.

18 Congress Building recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors
McHenry Architecture has received the Award of Merit for its 18 Congress Building during the annual 2007 Excellence in Construction Awards program sponsored by the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. The New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter of the association presented the award in the Commercial category.

Architect Brandon Holben achieves LEED accreditation status.
Brandon Holben, project architect at McHenry Architecture, has passed the latest 2.2 version of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) examinations. A new role for Brandon in the firm is to help guide other staff members in achieving the same status. It is the goal of the firm to have all design members LEED accredited or on the path to accreditation. This will be a first for any architectural firm in New Hampshire or Maine, but is an effort that we see as essential to the future of the built environment.

Steven McHenry named to the Board of Directors of Art-Speak, Portsmouth’s Cultural Commission
Art-Speak, the City of Portsmouth Cultural Commission has named Steven McHenry, principal of McHenry Architecture, to its Board of Directors. Created to implement the city’s Cultural Plan, the mission of Art-Speak is to promote appreciation, awareness and participation in support of arts and culture. This work includes expanding support spaces for activities, preservation of cultural assets, engaging youth and business with arts and the cultural community, establishing an arts and culture agency to act on the city’s behalf and collaborating with regional and state arts organizations.
