This project includes the complete renovation of the interior of a two-bedroom loft apartment in historic downtown Portsmouth. The intent of the design is to provide an urban loft plan with a simple palette of familiar materials in a contemporary style that compliment the brick and wood beam structure. In addition, the open quality of the design and its color scheme increases the sense of spaciousness in an otherwise compact layout. The new insulation and heating system substantially improves the thermal performance and comfort of the space. Indoor air quality is also improved by the careful selection of materials and finishes with low VOCs. Architectural components with a high level of recycled content were also chosen.
