The commission for this building design came as the result of winning a design competition sponsored by the City of Dover, New Hampshire Building Committee. The design is based on the unique requirements of the building program and the special needs students. The building program was limited to ten thousand square feet and included classrooms, teaching and administrative offices, open meeting spaces, a limited cafeteria and workshop spaces. The building was completed on a construction management basis in concert with Whitcher Builders in an effort to shorten the construction time and keep costs down.
